HubSpot Updates Summary - November 2024
There are hundreds of HubSpot partners in the UK, and from the outside, most of their websites say the same thing. Certified. Experienced. Results-driven. None of that tells you much about who's actually going to be good to work with.
Here's what genuinely separates a strong HubSpot partner from an average one.
What Do HubSpot Partner Tiers Actually Mean?
Partner tiers reflect a mix of client revenue and retention, not necessarily hands-on expertise. Diamond is one of the highest tiers, and agencies don't get there by accident. A higher tier is a reasonable signal of legitimacy and scale. But tier alone doesn't tell you whether the people working on your portal are any good. Treat it as one data point, not the whole decision. As a Diamond Partner ourselves, we'd still say the same.
Do You Get Direct Access to the People Doing the Work?
Some agencies put an account manager between you and the specialists actually building in your portal. Others don't. There's no universally right answer here, but it matters for how you work. If you want to explain a problem once and have the person who understands HubSpot ask the follow-up questions, direct access to consultants saves time and avoids things getting lost in translation. If you'd rather have a single point of contact managing everything for you, an account manager layer might suit you better. Just know which one you're getting before you sign anything. (With us, you speak directly to the team working in your portal.)
How Fast Does a Partner Actually Respond?
Response time matters more than most businesses expect, and it's shaped by location, team size and workload. A partner stretched across a huge client roster, or working in a different time zone, can mean a two or three day wait when something urgent lands. Ask how quickly they typically turn things around, and who you'll be dealing with when you ask.
We're a small but growing team, and that keeps us agile. You have a direct line to the people working on your project, so questions don't get lost in a queue. We're responsive, and our turnaround is quick. Being UK-based also means we can jump on a call the same day, or come to you on site.
Is the Work Bespoke or Templated?
Ask directly whether your portal will be built around your actual sales process, or dropped into a standard template. Templated builds are faster and cheaper upfront, and for some businesses that's a fair trade-off. But if your deal stages, handover points or reporting don't match a generic setup, it'll need reworking within months. Ask to see how two previous clients' setups differ. If every portal looks the same, that's your answer. We build everything bespoke, which is why we start with your process, not a template.
Can They Show Real, Named Results?
A genuinely good partner can point to specific, named client outcomes, not just a logo wall. Anyone can display a row of client logos. Fewer can tell you exactly what they did and what changed. For us, that's things like migrating 7,190 records and 250,000+ emails from Dynamics 365 to HubSpot for DTB Sports & Events. If a partner can't get specific when you ask, that's worth noting.
A Short Checklist
Before signing with a HubSpot partner, make sure you can answer:
-
What tier are they, and what does that actually tell you about their team?
-
Will you work directly with consultants, or through an account manager?
-
What's their typical response time, and does their location affect it?
-
Is the work bespoke to your process, or built from a template?
-
Can they name specific clients and specific, measurable results?
Choosing the Right Fit
The right partner isn't necessarily the highest tier or the biggest name. It's the one whose way of working fits how your team operates. If you're weighing that decision now, book a consultation and ask us any of the questions above directly.
